We’re Off!

We’re Off!

We have cast off our lines and are on our way out of the mouth of the Cheasapeake Bay bound for the Virgin Islands!  For those wanting to follow along, you can check out our progress each day, along with some of the other boats in the fleet, you can watch the rally progress Here.  This year the fleet will be spread out as we are all taking a range of departures.

Tonight we will be following the coastline towards Cape Hatteras and will be monitoring conditions to determine how far south we go before we enter the gulf stream, to make a quick and safe transit.

With any luck we the winds will be favourable and we will arrive in about 10 days or if it takes longer, hopefully no more than the 11 days and 21 hours we took last year.

Some think we’re nuts for going out on the water for 10-12 days.  But is 3 months of this really a better alternative?

When you can have this instead?

  2. Good luck God’s speed and may He hold you in the palm of his hand.
We are expecting warmer temperatures this coming week, hopefully winter weather will hold off longer, we can always hope. We will be following you every lap of the way.

    • Thanks! Wet and rainy first night, but otherwise uneventful. On track for our Gulf stream crossing with the latest forecast still being favourable.
