Altera is a 1998 Hallberg-Rassy 34, hull number 223 of 500 built between 1990 and 2005. The HR 34 was designed by the renouned designer, Frers and is a well balanced, brisk and fun to sail vessel that is also comfortable on longer journeys or in building sea states.
Built at the HR yard in Ellos, Sweden, Altera was shipped across the Atlantic below decks in the spring of 1998 and launched in Midland, ON in Georgian Bay where she was fresh water sailed for her entire life by the orginal owner. A very rare find in Canada, particularly on the Great Lakes, Altera was exceptionally well cared for. Hand waxed twice a year since new and kept very tidy below decks to the point that people are often surprised to find out she is a 1998 model. The log showed approximately 6000 nautical miles under her keel when we became the happy owners in August of 2012.
